What is Orion? Orion is a 'virtual' music studio suite for the PC running under Windows 95/98/2000. It recreates all parts of a traditional studio including sequencing, the emulation of a mixing desk and all wired rackmount hardware (Synthesizers, Samplers, Drums, Effects etc). All calculations inside Orion, are done in 32-bit resolution - twice the resolution of normal CD-Audio. You can export your songs as WAV files, in 16-bit resolution, ready for CD - or in 32-bit resolution, ready for subsequent editing in a different program. If you want to record your music on DAT, exporting at 48 kHz is also possible. Orion PRO Additional Features ----------------------------- - Sidechains A sidechain is a virtual cable that runs from a mixer channel into an ins ert effect. Gate, Compressor and Sidechain Filter effects can receive input from a sidechain. - Arpeggiator An arpeggiator creates melody lines out of given notes (usually a chord) using predefined patterns. - Groove Slicing In Orion PRO, the sampler can slice drumloops, spread the parts across the keyboard and adjust level, pan and pitch for each slice. - Audio Tracks The MIDI generator is capable of sending note data via a MIDI interface. Multi ple MIDI Generators can send to different interfaces/channels if required. - MIDI Generator The MIDI generator is capable of sending note data via a MIDI interface. Multi ple MIDI Generators can send to different interfaces/channels if required. - Effects This section describes the effects that additionally ship with Orion PRO. - Ultraverb The Ultraverb is a high-quality reverb effect free of artefarcts. The first parameter, Length, adjusts the length of the reverb trail. Room Size changes the reverb density, smaller values give a very compact reverb. HF and LF Damp (High-Frequency Damp, Low-Frequency Damp) attenuate frequencies gradually in t he reverb trail. Normally only HF Damp is used (this also saves a lot of CPU time !), however for special purposes low-frequency damp can be useful too. Predelay ad justs the time it takes for the reverb trail to be noticable after an excitatio n signal. When you set it to the maximum, you'll easily hear the delayed reverb trai l. Normally however, the predelay should be between 0 and 100ms. - X-Delay This works just like the standard delay, except that it ping-pongs the si gnal left-to-right continously. You can adjust the panning for each side (l/r) to make the pannin g effect more or less extreme. but the most important point is the Asio Support! however...
